the long goodbye

Robert Altman‘s post film noir adaptation of Raymond Chandler’s “The long goodbye” is halfway between Howard Hawks‘ and the Coen brothers’ interpretations … Can’t wait for the brilliant soundtrack to get an official release or reissue, incidentally, and for Zuckoff‘s oral biography to get a European paperback edition! Hey, and who will bring Chandler’s Playbackto the screen, at long last? Ang Lee? Paul Thomas Anderson? Erik Van Looy? As long as it happens, that’s OK with me
