laundry dance

Two pictures by Phile Deprez from a most wonderful scene with all the right moves & crawls and the cutest childlike pointless jumps and gestures … truly surreal, downright dreamlike and liberatingly funny, especially if you like launderettes and washing machines … They’re from “This door is too small (for a bear)” by Grace Ellen Barkey (and Lot Lemm) and Needcompany – just saw it @ Kaaitheater, Brussels, and had a fantastic time! Go see it … if only because you simply adore “Swan lake”!

In an interview after the performance, Mrs. Barkey said she’d been listening to a lot of Zappa (a.o.) preparing this show. (“Thing Fish”? Somehow Maya Deren came to mind too. What’s the difference between psychedelia and surrealism anyway?) Here’s more links to interviews, e.g. via the ‘extra’ tab on the Kaaitheater site.
