hadewijch / bruno dumont + philippe grandrieux interview

Monday 2010-02-22 in Brussels: avant première of Hadewijchby Bruno Dumont at the Arenberg!! Curious how it’ll compare to Carlos Saura’s “Noche oscura” or even Jos Stelling’s “Mariken van Nieumeghen” ;-) … or to Bruno Dumont‘s previous work, for that matter! (It’s not quite like Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis, Zabriskie Point or Three kings!)

Meanwhile: seen it, liked it, thought Mr. Dumont said lots of ‘right’ things afterwards. Fine acting, wonderful photography, and a great choice of format. Especially liked the scene where they sit by the Seine and he hears sirens and she hears church bells. And speaking of mysticism, here’s a 2004 interview – thanks again De Filmkrant + La Libergewith Bruno Dumont and Philippe Grandrieux (of Sombrefame – click here for more on the soundtrack). No quotes without mentioning the source(s) please. Furthermore, here’s some background on a location or other Dumont’s shot some scenes at.
